The best time to go to Malakal Island is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. This period offers the most consistent weather for enjoying all that Malakal Island and the surrounding Koror area have to offer. You'll find less rain and calmer seas, which are ideal for water-based activities like snorkelling, diving, and boat tours around the Rock Islands. The average temperature is around 27°C, making it pleasant for exploring. For those who prioritise diving and snorkelling, these months provide the best underwater visibility, often exceeding 20 metres. Many of Palau's most famous dive sites, such as Blue Corner and German Channel, are at their prime during this time, allowing for incredible encounters with marine life. This is especially good for couples looking for a romantic and active getaway, or solo travellers keen on maximising their adventure. While the dry season is generally more popular, the shoulder months of May and October can also be good options. You might encounter occasional showers, but the crowds are typically smaller, and you can still enjoy excellent weather conditions for most activities.
